Drone Flies with Honeybee Brain

Drone Flies with Honeybee Brain

According to Mnn.com, researchers from the universities of Sheffield and Sussex have installed a drone with a honeybee brain, which flies much like a real-life honeybee.

This project is a part of the Green Brain Project which seeks to create artificial brains that are modeled after the brains of real-life creatures and install them into robots.

Mnn.com states that, “For this experiment, a bee’s brain was mapped and recreated using circuits that fire on and off in the same way that neural connections fire in bee brains. This artificial brain was then uploaded to a quadcopter drone, which was capable of successfully flying and navigating a corridor without bumping into anything. Researchers said the drone’s flying behavior was eerily similar to how real honeybees fly.”
