Where Mice Will Play
A New Zealand McDonald’s has created controversy by continuing to serve up food while mice are seen scurrying about. The problem began with the filming of five mice running around the children’s playground.
A customer who had taken his three-year old daughter to use the playground asked management why the kid zone was off-limits and was told it was due to mice. Meanwhile the restaurant continued to operate normally.
The customer, Ashwan Rangarajan, told a local news source he had just dropped in for a Happy Meal and the next thing he knew, he was counting rodents.
“After dinner, I went to the counter to ask why the playground was locked and they said it was because there was a mouse there.
I counted about five mice there,” he said.
After taking some video, Mr Rangarajan posted it to facebook where it has taken off in popularity. He still does not understand why the whole restaurant is not closed.
A spokeswoman for the restaurant commented that although mice were found in the play area, none had been seen in the kitchen or other parts of the McDonalds. She further explained that the staff was taking the proper steps to combat the furry rodents in the play area – including cleaning it, calling a local pest control company and setting traps.
